About us

"I have never had a bad day at British Grove," says Mark Knopfler of his West London recording studio.

Mark’s ambition was to commission a recording studio in which to make his own albums and, just as importantly, to record in the same room at the same time as kindred players. That vision became a reality, in a setting that combines state-of-the-art technical capabilities with the relaxed and unhurried vibes that foster deep creativity. It is no exaggeration to say that Mark is as proud of the results of British Grove as he is of any song he has ever written.

You can work in the old way there, with old tape machines and mixing desks, or you can just use the technology as it is now. The console in the main studio, the Neve 88RS, which is huge, is the one that's used for orchestral recording for Hollywood and stuff like that these days. The mic amplifier is just about the best in the world.
